Indications:

• Treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus in adults and children.
• Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults requiring rapid-acting insulin to control postprandial glucose levels.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults and children: The dose of Humalog is individualized based on the patient’s metabolic needs, blood sugar monitoring, and other factors. It is usually administered just before meals (within 15 minutes) or immediately after meals.
• Inject subcutaneously into the abdominal wall, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites to reduce the risk of lipodystrophy.
• The Humalog KwikPen allows for doses from 1 to 60 units per injection in 1-unit increments.
• The onset of action is typically 15 minutes, with peak action occurring between 30 minutes and 2 hours, and the duration of action lasting 2 to 5 hours.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to insulin lispro or any of the other ingredients in the formulation.
• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) should be avoided when using this insulin.

Precautions:
